Interlibrary Loan
JerseyCat is a program coordinated by the New Jersey State Library which allows lending of materials among all the libraries in New Jersey. Reciprocal Borrowing
Borrowing from Other Libraries
The Paterson Free Public Library has a special borrowing agreement, called a reciprocal agreement, with the other libraries in PalsPlus, our consortium. If a Paterson patron has a library card without overdues or fines, he/she may use that card in any PalsPlus library. Patrons of other libraries in Passaic County are also welcome to use their home library cards in the Paterson Library.
In addition, the Paterson Public Library participates in an Open Borrowing Program that includes public libraries in six counties. A library card in good standing will be honored in public libraries throughout Morris, Passaic, Sussex, Warren, Middlesex, parts of Essex and Union Counties.
NOTE: As of January 1, 2015 BCCLS, Bergen County Cooperative Library System, is no longer participating in the Open Borrowing Program.
