- Security Guard (FT) –
Under direction, patrols the grounds, buildings, and other areas and facilities of schools, libraries, museums, parks, or other public facilities and installations to provide protection to persons gathered therein from harm, and guards and protects public property against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal or unauthorized entry; does other related duties as required.
- Library Assistant (FT) –
Under close supervision, performs a variety of routine nonprofessional library tasks; does other related duties as required.
- Digital Literacy Instructor (PT) –
The Paterson Free Public Library is looking for two Part-Time Digital Literacy instructors with
excellent technology and communication skills to deliver computer related courses (basics, Office
Suite, etc.) to adults in an In-person and online environment.
- Building Maintenance Worker (FT) –
Under direction of a supervisory official, performs varied simple and moderately physically strenuous tasks involved in cleaning and maintaining offices, furniture, buildings, and grounds; may assist in making minor repairs to buildings or equipment; does other related duties as required.

Outreach Librarian (FT) –
Paterson Library is offering an opportunity to work with a dynamic urban library. We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, engaged service driven Outreach Librarian who is eager for the opportunity to advance their skills and provide enriched outreach services throughout our communities. This is varied professional work in providing outreach to the public of all ages but with a particular focus on services to children. Major Duties:
- Perform excellent internal and external customer service in response to information needs of library users and overall community with an emphasis on children. •Help to plan and coordinate system outreach, including but not limited to school outreach, early literacy outreach, community engagement and senior adult outreach.
- Promote library collections and services to the public both inside and outside of building.
- Coordinate the purchase and distribution of outreach materials, cooperate and collaborate with other Public Services staff as necessary to deliver outreach services.
- Perform collection development based on developing quality children materials including selecting and ordering materials.
- Assist in the development of services designed to fulfill the Library’s outreach goals.
- Provide outreach to elementary, community organizations serving children and families.
- Collect and organize statistical data related to outreach.
- May be required to drive the Library Bookmobile on occasions.
- Maintain and cultivate relationships with students and parents.
Qualifications: MLS or MLIS from an ALA accredited institution, two years of recent library experience and a Professional Librarian certificate issued by the State of New Jersey. Must have a valid New Jersey Driver’s License. This person must have a strong knowledge of current library technologies and demonstrated experience using technology and digital resources. Excellent customer service and communication skills are essential. Students enrolled in a graduate degree library program may be considered if they have educational experience.This is a full-time 35 hours a week position. Children’s Librarian (FT) –

- Responsible for programming for children and families including planning, preparation, budgeting, scheduling, implementation, and assessment.
- Responsible for the Summer Reading Program for children including programming, promotion, school visits, and reporting.

- Promote library collections and services to the public both inside and outside of building.
- Evaluate needs of community and identifies opportunities for new and enhanced programs, services, and collections targeted towards children and families.
- Participate in collection development, guided by the library’s collection development policy.
- Prepare displays, exhibits, book lists, blogs and bibliographies. May contribute website and social media content relating to an area of library service.
- Assist in the development of services designed to fulfill the Library’s goals.
